My Story

Hello. I'm Julie. I am passionate about improving mental health and wellbeing through individual therapy, group workshops and more.

I worked in the mental health sector for many years managing projects and services that looked to improve mental health and support vulnerable people.

​

I have personal experience of depression and anxiety and have learnt every trick in the book to try and deal with these devastating issues. I have overcome a number of challenges but also recognise I'm still learning and growing! So rest-assured, I get it and want to support you to feel better!

​

I also live with a health issue called M.E. This causes deep exhaustion and has affected every aspect of my life and work. My career has had to change drastically in order to allow me to manage my health well.

​

I have used my experiences to work with people in a holistic way. My techniques can help people manage a range of complex health issues in the best ways.

​

We all have inner resources we need to find and build on. My techniques as a hypnotherapist help make best use of our parasympathetic nervous system - known as 'rest and digest' mode. This is about using your mind and body in the most effective ways. Teaching them to be calm, to work with you and help you move forward when you're stuck.  

​

I also have a personal interest in spirituality and am particularly interested in ideas from Eastern philosophy, such as Taoism and Buddhism.

​

These ideas and others have helped me think more about the importance of nature and our planet. I believe that being more connected to nature, and recognising our oneness with the living things around us, can help improve our wellbeing. I bring this thinking into my work where needed.

​

In recent years my own values have changed enormously. I am now far more concerned with peace of mind and being connected with the world around me than competing more, earning more and owning more. I think seeing the bigger picture and working together is far more important than the individual self. This kind of thinking has also been hugely helpful to me and to be able to see life through a broader lens.

​

However, I'm here to work with your story, your truth, your goals and help you find your best you. I will dip into these range of practices and ideas in a person-led way to help you find what you need.
